On December 6, 2010, RSNLT attorneys Philip Gerner and Amanda Tiebert submitted an opposition letter to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (“JCAR”) on behalf of school districts throughout the state in response to the Illinois State Board of Education’s (“ISBE”) proposed amendment of Section 1.310 of the Administrative Code.

A copy of the letter can be found here. ISBE’s proposal sought to prohibit school districts from employing retired teachers or school district administrators who receive pension benefits from the Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System (“TRS Annuitants”) as interim superintendents.

At its December 14, 2010 meeting, JCAR rejected the proposed amendment. For more information, see RSNLT’s Law Alert.
