Title IX Role-Specific Webinars for Higher Education Personnel: Register Now!

In partnership with the Illinois Community College Chief Student Service Officers Commission (“ICCCSSO”), Robbins Schwartz is pleased to offer several upcoming role-specific Title IX webinars for higher education institutions’ Title IX team members.  The cost for each webinar is $300.00 per institution.  Information regarding each webinar, including a registration link, follows below.

Title IX: Decision Maker and Hearing Officer Webinar

November 18, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The new Title IX regulations require that an objective Decision-Maker/Hearing Officer be appointed to determine whether a respondent is responsible for engaging in Title IX sexual harassment.  This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of the role of the Decision-Maker/Hearing Officer in the formal Title IX sexual harassment grievance process, with a focus on presiding over live hearings.  The webinar will offer recommendations for conducting hearings, evaluating evidence and credibility, determining relevance and applying the Title IX regulations’ rape shield protections.  Finally, this webinar will include helpful tips for preparing written determinations and recognizing and avoiding bias and conflicts of interest, as required by the new regulations.

Title IX Appellate Decision Maker Webinar

December 2, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Under the new Title IX regulations, both parties have the right to appeal any determination of responsibility and any dismissal of a formal Title IX sexual harassment complaint or allegations therein.  This webinar will focus on the role of the Appellate Decision-Maker in deciding appeals, providing participants with a step-by-step overview of the appeal process and a discussion of the permissible grounds for appeal and the procedural rights afforded to parties during the appeal phase.  Finally, this webinar will provide recommendations for evaluating appeals and issuing written appeal determinations.

Title IX: Coordinator Training Webinar

December 9, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

An institution’s Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the institution’s response to Title IX reports and complaints, managing the grievance process from start to finish, and ensuring that adequate training is provided to students, faculty, and staff on Title IX issues.  This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the Title IX Coordinators’ vast responsibilities and offer guidance on how Title IX Coordinators can best navigate and implement the new Title IX regulations.

Title IX Investigator Training Webinar

December 16, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The new Title IX regulations impose specific requirements for the Investigator’s role in the process for handling formal Title IX sexual harassment complaints. This webinar will train Investigators on the new requirements and provide detailed recommendations and best practices for conducting investigatory interviews, assessing credibility, making relevance determinations, collecting and sharing evidence, preparing an investigative report, and serving impartially.
