In Memoriam: Everett Nicholas

Published June 4, 2019

It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our last surviving founding partner, Everett Nicholas. While Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton & Taylor was originally founded with a dedication to the practice of school law, Everett and the founding partners initiated numerous innovations to provide high quality legal services to a variety of clients. As a managing partner, Everett helped further guide Robbins Schwartz to the full-service firm that it is today.

Everett graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Law in 1966 before helping to found Robbins Schwartz in 1970. His individual practice focused on serving public bodies in all aspects of Labor & Employment and Civil Rights issues. He successfully prosecuted numerous tenured teacher dismissals, prosecuted and defended many detachment and consolidation cases, and successfully represented districts in litigation challenging student expulsions, reductions in force, due process violations and civil rights issues. Throughout his career, he was an active member of many professional organizations before retiring in 2015. In addition to his role at Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton & Taylor, Everett was a loving husband and father to four children.

Everett Nicholas will be profoundly missed by all of those whose lives he affected inside and outside of the firm.
