Maryam Brotine practices education law focusing in the areas of special education and students’ rights.  Maryam counsels and represents school districts on mediation, due process and residency hearings, IEP meetings and matters involving student expulsion.  She has tried hundreds of jury and bench trials in misdemeanor court and is experienced in negotiating and bargaining.

Prior to joining Robbins Schwartz, Maryam served as an assistant public defender at the DuPage County Public Defender’s Office.  She was an appointed Guardian ad Litem and argued countless juvenile abuse and neglect hearings.

Maryam was a fellow with the International Human Rights Law Institute at DePaul University College of Law.  While at law school, she was a member of the trial team for the Moot Court Society and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
