Lorence H. Slutzky
Lory Slutzky represents public and private owners and developers, design professionals, contractors, design builders, manufacturers and insurers. He negotiates construction contracts including complex engineer-procure-construct projects. He is a highly successful advocate and litigator. He is a dispute resolution neutral, mediating and arbitrating disputes. Through his insights, he guides clients through the complexities of design, procurement and construction. By anticipating project specific causes of unfulfilled expectations, he facilitates the creation of a team approach to address and to avoid the disintegration of the relationship of the parties and the costly construction dispute resolution process that follows.
Lory began his legal career as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Julius J. Hoffman, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (1972-73). He served as an Assistant State's Attorney of Cook County, Civil Litigation Division (1973-76). He has been with Robbins, Schwartz since 1976. Lory is a national, commercial and construction Arbitrator. He is also an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School Center for Real Estate Law, a post graduate program, where he teaches Construction Law.
Lory is a founder and past president of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys. He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He is the only Illinois lawyer Board Certified (by examination) as a Construction Specialist by the Florida Bar.[1] He publishes extensively on the subject of construction and related topics and speaks nationally on the intricacies of the construction process.
