Lory Slutzky represents public and private entities, design professionals, contractors, design builders, manufacturers, commercial and professional liability insurers in complex construction negotiations as an advocate and as a dispute resolution process "neutral." He guides clients through the complexities of design, procurement, and construction disputes including delays, extras, failures of structural, architectural, mechanical and processing systems, surety/insurance claims, financial defaults, and construction personal injury claims.
Lory began his legal career as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Julius J. Hoffman, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (1972-73). He then became an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County Civil Litigation Division (1973-76). Lory has been with Robbins, Schwartz since 1976. Lory is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He is also an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School where he teaches Construction Law.
Lory is a founder and officer of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys and a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He is one of 109 lawyers nationally (and the only Illinois lawyer) Board Certified as a Construction Specialist by the Florida Bar. He has published numerous articles and texts on construction law and speaks nationally on the intricacies of the construction process.
